Smashing my 30 day challenge

As mentioned in my previous post, I set myself a 30 day challenge for June with the aim of losing 6lbs during the month by:

  • Tracking calories
  • Completing 45 minutes physical activity daily
  • Stretching
  • Strength work (especially upper body)

I started the month at about 13 stone 10 lbs having let my weight increase gradually over a few months.

The challenge went really well although I injured my back again and was unable to complete the physical activity goal each day. However, keeping track of my calories worked really well. Even though there were days where I exceeded my daily calorie target, keeping myself accountable led to weighing in at 13 stone 3 lbs at the end of the month. That was the lowest I’d weighed for over a year.

Having found the challenge worked, I decided to extend it for July and follow with a challenge in August.

July’s challenge consists of the following daily goals:

  • Complete at least 30 minutes of physical activity
  • Track calories daily
  • Complete 30 reps of one of the following: press ups, kettlebell swings, abs rolls, burpees
  • Stretch routine

I’m hoping to lose another 4-6 lbs and get stronger. Let’s see how it goes!
