It’s been forever since my last blog post… again. Not much different is happening in reality so haven’t had much to report. However, I have finally got off my ar@e and got control of my bad eating habits and am losing the weight that’s crept on over the last few months
Once the UK started locking down due to Covid 19, I set myself an informal goal to not put on any weight. I was 13 stone 12lbs when the first lockdown started in March 2020 and didn’t want to balloon. I did really well for the first year at not getting heavier. In fact, I lost weight reaching 13st 6lbs towards the end of November 2020. However, in reality, this is a stone heavier than I want to be.
From that point on, the weight started creeping on until I reached 13st 11lbs in late May 2021. It was time to start turning things around before things got out of hand.
Having seen many ‘body transformation’ style posts on social media, I decided to set myself some SMART goals and set myself a challenge. This was to lose 6lbs in June 2021 and to also add more upper body strength work and some stretches daily.
However, to keep myself accountable and also engage others to take part, I suggested to participants of my S&C sessions via the FB group that they take part in their own June 30 day challenge. A handful were interested so I set the wheels in motion.
It’s now just over a week into the challenge and I’ve lost 3lbs going from 13st 10lbs on the first of the month to 13st 7lbs on the 8th. This is more than I wanted to lose and hasn’t taken much effort. I’ve upped my daily calorie limit accordingly.
I’m tracking my calories each day in MyFitnessPal with a daily goal of 2020 calories. I’m also using Daylio track mini goals and to make sure I do at least 45 minutes of physical activity each day. This has tended to be by simply walking. We are currently looking after a 6 1/2 year old retired Guide Dog, Linford, so I’ve been taking him out each day as well as twice weekly S&C.
So far things are going well. The FB group is keeping me in check and the apps are tracking my progress. Let’s see if I can reach my goal. Hopefully, the good habits will stick and I can continue to my longer term goal of 12 1/2 stones.
