Today, I am going to try to start running again after my injury.
I have 7 weeks until the Stubbington 10K (and 17 weeks until Eastleigh 10K). I’ve not run for 4 weeks and even last week was getting aches and twinges from walking. I played tennis last week and struggled a little to run very short distances (more than 10 steps!) I think that was partly to stop myself injuring myself again.
I weighed in at 14 stone 1 1/2 this morning which isn’t good. I plan to get down to 13 stone by Christmas and then lose another 1/2 stone before Eastleigh 10K. Fingers crossed. Carrying the extra weight isn’t good and losing 1 1/2 stone will reduce the risk of injury.
The plan for today’s run is a short, slow 3 mile run. Really don’t plan to up the mileage for a couple of weeks. Will report back later on how well it went.
Well, I managed 3 miles although I confess to taking a few walk breaks in the last 1/2 of the run. I could feel some very subtle twinges in my shin but nothing too bad at all. Will turbo train tomorrow and then do another 3 mile run on Wednesday. Hopefully, I’ll be able to run the whole distance rather than runwalk.
Overall, pleased to be recovered and back out running.
