January has started off cold! With temperatures below zero and widespread ice, running is a little treacherous. Having said that, I’ve goals to meet so now excuses!!
I have done a couple of runs so far this month and having taken a few weeks out of training, found them a bit tough. In fact, I’ve reverted to walk/running. I can barely run 1 mile without hitting a mental hurdle that makes me stop running and ease back into a walk. Not impressed with myself I can tell you.
I’m blaming some of my poor performance on having put on several lbs since the 10K run in October. On the 1st January 2010, I weighed in at 14 stone 7 3/4 lbs. Certainly not my heaviest but almost 2 stones over my target weight.
Anyway, with my 2010 goals, I’ve decided to spread the load a little by setting goals per month to keep things on target. Here are my goals for January:
- Run 47 miles
- Lose 8lbs
- Decrease average pace to less than 11 minutes per mile (currently over 11:30 min/mile due to walk/run).
In the first two runs of the year, the average distance is a little over 3 miles. Need to start upping this.
Will post Runkeeper stats link for future runs.
Here’s to my next run which is scheduled for tomorrow.
